The Challenge: Create a format for a TV show aimed at helping the Nation's undereducated adults brush up on their basic skills in reading, writing and math. It can't be boring, it can't be condescending and it has to entertain while teaching a lesson from a specifically designed curriculum. The Result: We cracked the curriculum code and created TV411, a ground breaking educational series emphasizing real life situations using a variety of television formats. From animation to music videos, from sitcoms to dramas, from news magazine to sports -- each half hour of TV411 turns these familiar formats into 'mini shows' and strings them together through each episode. TV411 inspires and motivates viewers to tune into learning and better their lives. As producers, TV411 has been one of the most satisfying programs we've ever done. It's a good project with good results and it attracts good people -- we've been able to enlist the services of high profile celebrities and actors, professional athletes and sports franchises, best selling authors and pop musicians to appear on camera and take part in making adult education accessible and entertaining. We won't kid you, it's a big series to oversee but we thrive on it. Educators, advisers, writers, producers, animators, graphics designers, editors. . .we shoot all across the country, using real people, actors, locations and studios. Season one brought us our first Emmy Award as partners in Picture This Television for Outstanding Direction in Entertainment for the music video, 'Spell It Out,' as well as a New York Festivals World Medal for Best Instructional Programming. Season two brought us our second Emmy Award, this time for Best Educational Series. TV411 is part of the largest literacy initiative in the country and is produced in an alliance with ALMA, The Adult Literacy Media Alliance. 30 episodes have been completed and continue to air nationwide.
